SPECIAL MEETING
Town of Sevastopol Board of Supervisors
Thursday, June 2, 2005 – 6:30 p.m.
(held in Town Meeting Room behind Sevastopol Schools)
Call to Order:
Chairman Leo Zipperer called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m.
Establish Quorum:
To establish a quorum, a roll call was taken. Present were Chairman
Leo Zipperer, Supervisors Tom Girman, Jo Ann Schley, John Staveness,
Dan Woelfel, and Clerk/Treasurer Linda Wait. The agenda was properly
noticed.
Hansen Request for Grant of Variance:
Thomas R. Hansen appeared before the Board regarding his Petition for
Grant of Variance at his residence located at 5433 Bay Shore Drive.
Schley read Mr. Hansen’s letter of April 27, 2005 wherein he proposes
to construct a 2-story addition in anticipation of retirement and to
make the house more accessible to a wheelchair and physical
disabilities. The property is currently considered a MOD (multiple
occupancy development) consisting of a resident and two cottages. The
existing residence is 36’ from the ordinary high water mark; the
proposed addition would be on the opposite. Following discussion,
motion by Schley and seconded by Girman to recommend approval and
support of the Hansen request for grant of variance. Motion carried.
Request for Proposal (RFP) Consultant/Fire Services:
Girman reported on the recent Fire/Rescue Services Committee meeting
on May 19, 2005. After discussion on exploring alternative fire
protection services, motion by Schley and seconded by Woelfel to
approve and proceed with an RFP for consulting services to assist in a
feasibility study regarding the creation of a town fire department.
An ad will be placed in the Door County Advocate, to run for two
consecutive weeks. Motion carried.
Road Work to be done in 2005:
In accordance with the previous action of the Board, estimates were
received from the Door County Highway Department for the work and
applications identified as a result of the road inspection tour on May
14, 2005. Zipperer said it was a pleasure working with the new
superintendent, Thad Ash, on the estimates. The 2004 unused budgeted
amount for highway construction was $83,580 and $250,000 has been
budgeted for 2005. The 2004 unused budgeted amount for road
maintenance was $9,041 and $35,000 has been budgeted for 2005.
Attached are the identified projects and order of priority for
completion, with all roads to be at the basic 20-foot width. Cinnamon
Court will be treated as a separate item, with the possibility for
grant assistance. Motion by Girman and seconded by Staveness to
complete the projects, as identified and prioritized, and to stay
within the allocated (budgeted) amounts. Motion carried.
Adjournment:
Motion by Schley and seconded by Girman to adjourn. Motion carried.
Adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Wait, Clerk
[approved 6/20/05]
