TOWN MEETINGS: The Town Board of Supervisors will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Monday, August 16th at 7 pm.
The Property Management Committee will meet on Wednesday, August 25th at 9:30 a.m. at the Town hall for a discussion on draft nuisance and animal/control ordinances. The public is invited to share your questions, concerns and suggestions.
The Institute Cubs will finish the regular season with a home game at the Town Park on Sunday, August 8th against Sister Bay.
The Mens and Womens Doubleheader League will wrap up on Monday and Tuesday, August 16th and 17th. Games start at 6:30 at our Town Park in Institute.
The 28th Annual Thresheree will take place Friday through Sunday, August 20th-22nd, at the Club Grounds, 5005 Country View Road. There are lots of events scheduled for the weekend, plus great food and refreshments. Admission is $5 per day or an $8 weekend pass, children under 12 are free. Friday nite kicks off with the Bobby Darren Country Show. On Saturday, there will be chain saw competition, tractor pull, an afternoon barn dance with Jerry Voelker polka music, an evening polka mass with Rev. Birdsall and the Modern Day Drifters provide C&W music for the rest of the night. On Sunday, Pastor Zessin provides a church service and there will be a horse pull, kids' tractor pull, barrel race and the famous mud pig wrestling at 3:30, with the Bittorf Brothers providing music from 12-3 pm. Lots of fun for the whole family!
Sevastopol School Board will meet on Monday, August 23rd for its regular meeting at 7 pm, with the Annual Meeting/Budget meeting on Tuesday, August 24th beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Glidden Drive Association will hold its annual picnic on Saturday, August 28th at the park in Institute (Town Hall in case of rain).
Whitefish Dunes State Park has lots of activities planned for August, with kids programs and crafts under the Big Red Tent, including toys to take to the beach and hands on about Wisconsin critters (badger, bees, ducks, moths, owls, bears and more). On Saturday, August 21st, there are special kayaking trips and candlelight walks along the beach and through the forest. Call the Park office at 823-2400 for details and more information.
