Building and Zoning Permits are required in the Town of Sevastopol.  Our Town does follow the Door County Zoning Ordinance and it is best to first contact the Door County Planning & Zoning Department at 920-746-2323 for information before starting your building or remodeling project.   Visit their website at http://map.co.door.wi.us/planning for details.  Driveway permits (no fee) are also required--call the town office 746-1230.

You will need your Door County zoning permit before a Town building permit is issued.  The Town contracts with Independent Inspections, Ltd. and our primary building inspector is Brett Temme.  You may call 1-800-422-5220 to leave a message for him.  (You can usually find Brett at the Sturgeon Bay City Hall on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.)  Information and applications are also available at the Town Hall (746-1230).  The application is not available online, as it is a carbon form at this point.

Permits are required for: new buildings, accessory structures (detached garages, decks, sheds), additions, structure remodeling, new or alterations of plumbing/heating/ electrical/HVAC and demolition.  Permits are not usually required for replacing "like for like" such as re-siding, finishing of interior surfaces, re-roofing if not a 3rd layer/load-bearing calcs, replacing windows or doors.  Always call the Door County Planning Department at 746-2323 to see if you need a zoning permit, or call the Town office at 746-1230 for other questions.
